Our Services

Pre-Employment Medical

Our pre-employment medical consists of both extensive Medical history and Physical examination. We provide companies,  employers, and recruitment agencies with reliable and fast pre-employment assessments that can be tailored to your organization and job roles. Pre-employment assessments identify whether a candidate can safely do the job, and provide a baseline health
assessment for a worker before they enter a role.

Medical History: The applicant is required to provide detailed information about their medical history, including any past illnesses, surgeries, chronic conditions, allergies, and medications they are taking.

Physical Examination: An occupational health professional often conducts a comprehensive physical examination. This may include measuring height, weight, and blood pressure, and checking vital
signs, evaluating vision and hearing, and assessing general physical fitness.

Additional special testing of Audiometry and Spirometry testing can be included in this medical.

Audiometry (Onsite or Workplace)

A person at a workplace who is frequently required to use Personal Hearing Protection (PHP) to reduce the risk of hearing loss associated with noise that exceeds the exposure standard is required to have audiometric testing undertaken. Workplace audiometric testing is required by the NSW Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 every two (2) years.

We provide audiometry health monitoring including baseline, periodic, and exit testing.

The following onsite testing environment options are available:

Option 1: Audiometric Booth provided by us, which is then pushed into a quiet room or quiet location onsite.
Option 2: Acoustically Sound Treated room (provided by client –
only if available onsite).

Our audiometric testing team can travel to a single site location or multiple site locations, as per the request of our clients.
We aim to create the quietest environment possible on-site for audiometric testing, to ensure accuracy and consistency with audiometric test results for our clients. Each audiometric test takes 8-10 minutes per person.

We refrain from using Mobile Vans, as the issue with Mobile Vans is noise interference from adjacent traffic, birds, machinery and tools, and foot traffic on site. Noise from outside a mobile van can often be heard inside the van, which interferes with the testing environment. In most cases, noise interference leads to inaccuracy and inconsistency in the audiometric test results, as the response from the person being tested may be false. This would mean having the person(s) retested again in another test environment that meets the AS1269.4:2014 standards for audiometric testing.

Spirometry (Lung Function Test)

Lung function testing, also known as spirometry, can identify any abnormalities in lung function early before they become more severe and potentially irreversible. It can also assist employers in identifying any potential workplace hazards that could affect their employees’ respiratory health. We understand the importance of maintaining your employees’ respiratory health. That’s why we provide on-site spirometry testing to help you protect your employees’ lung health. Our qualified healthcare professionals use state-of-the-art equipment to perform quick and non-invasive lung function tests that comply with the latest health, safety and environment (HSE) guidelines.

Our lung function testing service is designed to be comprehensive and efficient, providing valuable information for employers and employees alike. Our testing process includes measuring three key parameters:

  • Forced Vital Capacity (FVC)
  • Forced Expiratory Volume in one second (FEV1)

The FVC measurement assesses the total amount of air that can be exhaled forcibly from the lungs after taking a deep breath. The FEV1 measurement tests the amount of air that one can exhale in the first second of the FVC test. Finally, the PEF measurement assesses the maximum speed at which one can exhale air. Each employee tested will receive a results outlining their lung function test results, including predicted values and any issues detected.

If any employees are identified as having abnormal lung function test results, we will provide referrals for their GPs if required.

Respirator Fit and Fit Testing

Our onsite Respirator Fit Testing can be used for any type of tight-fitting respirator. This is important, as workers must be fit tested with the specific make, model, style, and size of the respirator that they will be using.

This respirator will have a probe attached to its facepiece, which will be connected to a machine by a hose. That machine, known as a portacount, then measures the amount of leakage into the facepiece.

If workers wear additional PPE or prescription eyewear on the job, it should be worn during this Fit Test. That’s because earmuffs, hardhats, visors, or even heavy clothing can interfere with the way a respirator fits. Likewise, workers are also required to be clean-shaven during your fit test and any respirator use. Workers must be fit tested before using a respirator in the workplace, and then retested at least every 12 months to make sure this respirator still fits.

Workplace Drug & Alcohol Testing (Instant or Laboratory)

We conduct assessments in accordance with Australian Standard AS 4308 and AS 4760 for the following drugs: THC (Marijuana or Cannabis), Amphetamines (Speed), Methamphetamines (Ecstasy and Ice), Benzodiazepines (sleeping tablets), Opiates (pain relief medication such as Codeine and Heroin), Cocaine.

If an instant drug test or laboratory drug test is non-negative, it is mandatory under the Australian Standards for the sample to undergo further confirmation testing within a NATA accredited laboratory before a final result is issued. This further confirmation testing will incur an additional cost and is not included in the cost of the medical.

Types of drug and alcohol testing; Saliva drug test, Urine drug test, Alcohol breath test.

CAT 3 Rail Medical

A Category 3 Rail Medical applies to workers who perform non-safety critical work and whose health and fitness will not directly impact commuters or colleagues.

This medical assesses a workers ability to move through the rail corridor, function under supervision and reach a safe place in the event of an emergency.

It includes:

  • Vision testing
  • Audiometry
  • Musculoskeletal assessment
  • Drug and alcohol screening

Ergonomic Assessments & Training

The best way to prevent poor ergonomic work practices is to provide employees with the right information to be able to identify the most common risk factors before they cause an injury. By educating employees, organisations are more equipped to actively improve their working environment through workstation ergonomics. Ergonomic assessments and ergonomic workshops are a great tool for companies to screen for risk factors and contribute to overall health and wellbeing of their workplace.

An ergonomic assessment involves assessment of an employee at their workstation to ensure optimal working postures and ergonomic work practices, correct workstation set-up. A formal report can be provided to the employer outlining all findings and any recommendations.

Our Ergonomic Assessments can include: Individual workstation assessments, Multiple workstation assessments, Home office ergonomic assessments and Vehicle ergonomic assessments.

Manual Handling Training & Assessment

We offer both manual handling assessments and training to our clients. Our manual handling assessment will look at all the physical demands and tasks completed by staff in your workplace. From there, we can identify any physical or environmental hazards that may put your employees at risk of sustaining an injury. Our manual handling training services will help your employees understand and comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements. We offer theoretical and practical training components that staff can apply in the workplace.

We offer options of on site and in person, our team comes to you and training can be tailored to your needs.
